Bento No# 115: Ladybird and Smiley Face Bento

Hello! I am so sorry that I did not update my blog for nearly a month. I was away for holiday after posted Wizard of Oz bento. I was actually had a bento made before to Wizard of Oz bento, but I was a bit stressed out on the Wizard of Oz bento because it was my first time participating on the bento hop. So...this post is delayed. I still have few delayed posts. How i wish i have 36 hours a day. Sigh....

So, back to the bento. I managed to get mini wheat buns from local bakery shop here. So, I made ladybird bento for my girl. I doubt she would finished them and I was correct. She only took the sausage, not the cheese and bun. She finished the strawberries too.

Ladybird bento for my girl. I only realised that the ladybird's wing were placed upside down after i viewed the photos from my handphone gallery.

Ladybird bun was made of mini sausage, cheese and scrambled egg under the mini sausage. The smiley face bun was stuffed with salmon mayo. Added strawberries in between. The same goes to hubby, so I did not take photo as I was running out of time. :p

Bento No# 106: Snack Bento

My girl is attending half day enhancement class and the class ended at 12pm. She then will takes bath and lunch in school. It is good that most of the kids lunches are home cooked by the Principal's father. My girl will usually knock off in the car within 10 mins on the way back and the journey back home is about 45mins drive. It is really a looooong journey.

She will continue to sleep after reach home and when she wakes up, she will keep asking for food. Thus, I made her snack bento again this afternoon. :))

A very simple one. Golden kiwis, blueberries and apricot yogurt in the little pail. I then added bee and ladybird cupcake decor, otherwise it is too plain. Hehe. I also spelt out her last name "QI" for her. It's simple isn't it?

Bento No# 105: Piggy Bento

Aiks. My girl did not finish her double chocolate swissroll yesterday. I made her piggy theme today. :)

The piggy sandwich was cut using cutezcute cutter. I love this cutezcute cutter so much as it is really easy to use. It comes with 4 different animals cutter as well. How cool! I put some nutella chocolate on the piggy eyes.

I added strawberries, blueberries, and two seedless grapes for her. I also include some dried raisins in the little piggy container. I felt it is quite a big snack bento box for my girl after I done all. =.='''

Principal told me she not did not finish her bento today. She finished all the fruits, but not the sandwich. I shall pack smaller one for her as this little girl really has small appetite. :)

Bento No# 104: Ugly Snail Bento

I bought double chocolate swissroll yesterday. So, again I packed swissroll for my little girl's snack bento. I do not have idea on what shall this swissroll can be turn to except snail. haha. So, again, snail bento.

I was thinking to make the body using white bread but the body was way toooooooooo slim. LOL. I was actually using multipurpose cutters. I should free cut the body instead. Thus, it turn out to be an ugly snail.

I added blueberries (she requested a night before :)), korean strawberry and golden kiwis. Since I made an ugly snail, so I added squirrel picks to match the theme.

The little girl asked where is hello kitty this morning. =.=''' I believe she will ask where is squirrel tomorrow morning if I'm not using this squirrel pick. She loves the cute picks as much as I do. Now I'm OK to include cute picks in her snack box as I know she able to handle the little cute picks.

Bento No# 102: Snail and Fruits Bento

I bought green tea and yam swissrolls from local bakery shop. I love their swissrolls so much as it's really taste good! But their price is getting more pricey now. But the shop was having 22% storewide last weekend and I managed to grab two rolls of swissroll! Hehehe

I was cracking head on what shall I turn the swissroll to the day before. I only got the idea when I woke up that day. I made this to snail bento and give the snail a little hat, punched nori/seaweed for eyes, nose and mouth. Lastly, put some seedless grapes and flower silicon baran to decorate the box. The little girl likes the bee pick, so I added in the box to cheer her up. :)

She did not bring two bentos to school. I prepared this on that night after her dinner. Usually, is daddy's job to prepare fruits for the little girl. But I was back home early that day from work, so I prepared fruits for her. Just to make her happy, I put the fruits into the box again. Includes in the box are golden kiwis, seedless grapes and strawberry yogurt in the panda container.

Bento No# 76: Elephant Bento

I made spaghetti this morning. Hubby prefers bolognese than carbonara.

It is an elephant bento today! I get this idea from Mothering Corner. I pre-cut the elephant wording a night before. Next morning, I just put in microwave to warm up. But I overlooked the time and the ham was overcooked. =(
See the elephant wording? It is so ugly. >.< I put a grass baran at the back of the elephant so that it does not look so dull.
This is for hubby. Awww...the ugly elephant wording. =(

My new bento box. The box is quite deep, thus it is suitable for rice/noodles packing. It comes with strap too (not in the photo). I got this at RM5 each. What a steal!

A funny conversation took place this morning.

Hubby: Dear, do you take wrong bento with you? (I left the house earlier than him)
Me: Huh, no. Why?
Hubby: Why mine is froggie bento box?
Me: This bento box is suitable for noodles mah! You shy?
Hubby: Yes! Im shy to take this bento box.

Hahaha. In fact, I purposely to use this bento box as the normal bento box I packed sandwich is not deep enough. And soon after he finished his spaghetti in office, he watsapp-ed me saying that he is shy and all his colleague keep saying so cute and asking him where to buy. LOL.

Bento No# 63: Big Nose Penguin Bento

Hello... How was your weekend? I went to Seremban to have my favourite grilled crab that I have been missing since I was pregnant two years ago! Yeah..that long, two years. :p

I have been looking for semi long bun for quite some time and finally I found it at a bakery shop at Melaka Mall. I wanted to do a simple penguin bento but I ended up had big nose penguin bento instead. @.@ I should cut the nose using free hand as I do not have small oval cutter. And the Laughing Cow cheese is melting too fast!! What brand of cheese that does not melt so fast? Hmmm...

Inside of the bun are scrambled egg and grilled ham.

Bento No# 62: Sealed Mini Sandwich Bento

Finally I bought this mini sandwich cutter from Bento Craft. I have been eyeing for this cutter for so long and now finally I bought it. It is a good investment I would say as it is really easy to use and time saving for bento making. Why? Because it pop out 4 mini sandwich at one go! :)

I made kaya mini sandwich for my niece as she requested for kaya. I also included mini sausages to go with it as my fridge is running out of fruits. >< Lastly, I add the animals food picks on each mini sandwich. Aww, that is so colorful and cute. When she woke up this morning, I asked her which bento box she wants and immediately she choose the animals family! :)

The simpler one is for myself. :)

Happy a great weekend everyone!

Bento No# 60: Snail Bento

I bought sesame swissroll yesterday and plan to make snail bento. But I realised that my snail was not that perfect as I cutted the 'face' out from the sausages. The eyes and mouth also looks big compared to the size of the snail head. Hmmm..I should improved on this.
My niece's snail bento

My snail bento!
Anyhow, my niece seems happy with it. She told me she finished off the snail bento after school today. :))

Bento No# 47: Monkey Bento

I did not manage to buy bread yesterday, thus I cook maggi mee goreng again (having instant noodle once in a while is a bliss to me! :-p).
Monkey Bento
Actually I don't think it looks like monkey at all. Hahaha. My sausage cocktail is rather long. I copied the idea from Bento, Monsters. :-p
I packed the fruits separately. I find that the taste and smell of the fruits will turn different if I packed together with cooked food. It is OK if packed with bread. But not cook food. I wonder if other bento experts out there facing the same problem as me? No? Oh ya... there are two chocolate cups for myself too! Yippie!!!

Bento No# 44: Caterpillar Bento

I see lots of mummies made caterpillar bento, hence, I also would like to give it a try. This was the only time I made bento with LEAST bread wastage, as I did not cut the side out. I used the whole piece of bread.
Chloe's caterpillar bento

Hubby's caterpillar bento

My caterpillar bento
All the three caterpillar bentos!
Today sandwich consists of fried scrambled egg, ham and cheese! Wow, how yummy it is! :p I used mini cocktail sausages as the caterpillar body and punched out the legs and face details using nori. The legs are punched out using music note puncher of which I got it from Daiso. I also packed my own made chocolate for hubby and myself. None for my niece, as to limit her intakes of chocolates! The golden pack is Rosetta milk chocolate cream sandwich cookies bought by my sister in law. Nice one! She got it from Singapore.

Bento No# 36: Happy Birthday Bento

First of all, I would like to wish my dearest hubby a very happy birthday! I can’t wait for today to make this birthday bento for him. I have been thinking what to put into the box since two days ago. *lol* And know what, I even dreamt that I was late this morning and I could not make a birthday bento for him. I kept on waking up in the middle of night. End up, my colleague said I have a pale look this morning. >.<

Back to the special birthday bento for my hubby. A two-tier sandwich cake with “Happy Birthday” wordings. The alphabet cutter is too small and I spent most of my time cutting, picking and arranging the alphabets on the cake. It is actually an easy task, but due to the cheese melting faster than I expected, so I have a hard time picking up and putting it nicely on the cake. I guess I shall get a bigger alphabet cutter. I added flower sugar on top to make it more colorful. He has bunch of animal friends to sing a song and celebrate with him! LOL. In Chinese custom, we would normally have mee sua and red eggs on the birthday. In fact, my mother in law really boiled few eggs on his chinese birthday which fall on 9th day of CNY.  So, I added a cutie egg for him, to symbolized his birthday. Lastly, I added kiwis and grapes for him. I wanted to make a “present” tie up with ribbon for him actually, but I was really running out of time. >.<

Happy birthday to you my dearest hubby

As for myself, I had this very simple rabbit bento as I was running out of time to prepare a fancy one. I packed the fruits separately.

Bento No# 31: Piggy Bento

I bought a pack of 6 hamburger buns last weekend and I used up 2 buns on Monday. I still have 4 to finish off before expiry date. So, I made burger again this morning. Yesterday, my niece, Chloe asked me why I did not fix any bento for her. She was looking for her bento after back from school and my maid told her that I did two bento, one for myself and another one for uncle. She asked why she does not have. LOL. I said "I thought you said you don't want?". She replied, "I want, I will eat after I'm back from school.". hahaha...OK. I make burger for you tomorrow ya.

I came across another bento mom, Bento Monsters. I like the bentos that she made for her two boys. Not only that, I guess she must be very good in cooking as well. All of her bentos are so detail in decoration, beautiful and colorful. Thus, I copied her idea for piggy bentos today.

This round, I bought lesser seeds hamburger buns. So, the face does not have so much "pimples". Hahaha. I made 3 piggy bentos today. The piggy looks cute isn't it? :=p

Chloe's  bento

And this is piggy bento for my niece. There is a bonus of ferrero rocher chocolate for her. She asked me if she can has it before she went to Singapore for holiday last weekend. I told her, you can have it after you back from Singapore ya. Thus, I included the chocolate for her today.

All three that I made!

Bento No# 12: Lovey Chicky Bento

My niece, Chloe was on school break and currently spending her holiday in Singapore. Thus, I do not need to fix a bento to her. But I am sure she would love this bento if she sees this photo! *shameless me*

Finally I found the love shape picks which I have looking for loooong time!!! I bought it from Daiso at RM5 per pack only! What a great deal isn’t it? :p Therefore, I decided to fix a chicky bento today. How is it? I super like this cute chicky bento. However, the chicky “wings” which I used from sliced cheese looks like fried egg, do you agree? LOL. Goes together in the bento are: hotdogs with chilli sauce, little flower shape of sandwich (left over from the bread) and ferrero rocher as you can see!!

Bento No# 6: Kitty Bento

How about this little kitty bento for today? The 3-tier sandwich are consist of sliced cheese and ham. The face details are made from chocolate rice and the eye are made from chocolate chips and sliced cheese. Not difficult to do, but the assembling of the face details took my time as the chocolate rice is so tiny. I also put some honey stars and coco crunch in the silicon cups.
